Hi there all, I’m a mid 50’s wannabe world traveller and I’ve started this blog so I can record my travels and keep in touch with family and friends when I’m away and just maybe grow a successful blog while I’m at it.

Maybe as time goes on and I get used to sharing I’ll be able to add more to this page but right now it is totally foreign for me to be broadcasting things about myself, so short and sweet it is!

Okay it’s almost two weeks since I wrote those first couple of sentences, I’ve published seven posts since then and I think if I want other people to read my blog then I should try to share more about myself – here goes trying to put some of me into words.

I’ve been many things to many people in my life, daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, employer, employee ……… the list goes on. I’ve had lots of love and some heartache along the way. I’ve had lots of hard work and lots of fun too. I’ve been healthy and had health problems. I’ve been poor at times and also been comfortable. I have up days and down days but some-one or something always convinces me there’s something to look forward to.

I can’t complain about my life, but I am going to change a few things and part of the change is heading off to spend at least six months next year travelling around Europe.

Maybe it’s just a typical mid-life crisis – even though it’s a tad later than mid-life.

Maybe it’s because I had a brief taste earlier this year when I had a month in Italy and two weeks on the Greek Isles.

Whatever the reason for the decision – I’ve made it and now I just have to do what I need to make it happen – and I can’t wait!!!

February 2014 – well, my six months travelling around Europe has been and gone, aaaand I managed to extend it to 7 whole months! I wasn’t very good at keeping up to date with the blog (too busy taking it all in), so I’m still writing posts as I can and looking for a new job to fund more travelling!!

  4. Oh boy! You really meant “traveller” in your title! The Greek Islands have long been on my list and since I’m not dead yet, I’ll leave ’em there!

    Dear Julie
We had the pleasure of meeting you on a noisy Praça in the centre of Barcelona and had a great chat. We’ll follow you on your adventures, so travel safely and enjoy!
    Esther & Fred

    • Hi Esther and Fred, how absolutely wonderful to hear from you – and so soon too! I thoroughly enjoyed our chat too, maybe when I get home we can do coffee (or wine) in old Brisbane town one day. Hope all goes well for the rest of your cruise and you love every minute.

      • Dear Julie
We often think back to our travels in 2013 and the many nice people we met. That’s the most rewarding part of traveling. Don’t know where you are now, but if back in Australia, we take you up on your proposal to meet in Brisbane, have lunch and catch up with all the good news and experiences.

      • Lovely to hear from you and yes we’ll have to do lunch and have a good chat as soon as we can.

  8. I’m a mid 50’er and wanna be traveler too! However we have two new kids so I am stuck on my continent for awhile. Good luck in your travels! Looking forward to hearing about them….

    Dear Julie

After we met in Barcelona we visited Marseille and Valetta. We especially recommend Valetta to visit. It’s very unique, has lots to offer and the A$ stretches much further than on the continent.
Please be safe and stay in touch!
    Best regards, Esther & Fred

    • Oh darn, I’d already made plans when I got this, made my way to Marseille via Montpellier to fly to Zadar in Croatia tomorrow morning. Will have to put Valetta on the list for next time. Am doing my very best to stay safe, and I will stay in touch. Hugs for you both, and don’t play up too much on that ship!!

  10. Thank you for the Follow. Sometimes LIFE is a crisis and other times you wish you knew where it went when you looked over your shoulder. 😉

  11. Wonderful plans!! I can’t wait to follow your travels in Europe!!!

    • Thanks Margie, I’m in the deep south of Italy now, at Ostuni. I’ve been avidly following your latest travels over here, Sicily is my next destination after Lecce and Matera. As you can see, the blog is quite a way behind, but I figure, I’ll catch up one day….

  12. Good for you! I’m getting around as much as possible as well!

  13. I hope you find the job. I wish I’d had more opportunity for independent travel but you make the best of what you have 🙂 Many thanks for the follow. Where’s next on the list?

    • Not sure where next Jo, although Europe still pulls me, even places I’ve already been. Finding a job to fund the travel is the focus at the moment, once that’s done then I’ll start dreaming again. And thanks you too, love your blog.

I'd love to hear from you.....
